Today at dinner, while our daughter slept (parents of small children know that deserves a whoop whoop); my husband and I talked about how fast life is moving now that we have a child. After some discussion we realized time wasn’t moving faster…not at all…our time just has more meaning now. I won’t go into how much meaning our lives had before her (it did), but will just sit in the fact that our lives have even more now.
For that I am grateful.
Always with love,
8 Months with special guest: Miles
Hey Tootsie Roll,
These past two months have been all about celebrations; not only holidays but also celebrating you hitting some pretty big milestones. This was your time to shine and you did! In two months you crawled, stood, and took your first steps; and let me say you LOVE your new independence. Your first steps were with your favorite person in the world; Daddy! At first Mommy was super jealous that I missed it, but after some thinking I am really grateful you chose Daddy to have that moment with. He works so hard all day and misses out on so much of the small things day to day with you, so the fact that you gave him such a big moment was so thoughtful….and it was on his first Fathers Day weekend! How perfect was that! Another big moment was you finally started eating solids! You decided that you wanted to try strawberries while we were at a restaurant…we didn’t mind that part at all…it was the fact you were in ALL WHITE and wanted to feed yourself. It was a mess! Before you left the restaurant you were stark naked and we had a table full of used wipes and napkins LOL! It was such a perfect moment. Some of your favorite foods are: mango, peaches, strawberries, and carrots. You are a sweets girl for sure. Lastly, we celebrated Mommy and Daddy’s five year wedding anniversary and you stayed with Granny for your first time away from both Mom and Dad. You had a blast and so did we! It was the best feeling racing up the stairs to see you after our night out. Thank you Mom for the time off! All in all it was an eventful two months that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Other things we noticed:
-You are trying so hard to talk
-Sticking your tounge out…It’s quite hilarious
-Still no teeth
-You try and answer my phone when it rings
-You have become pretty good at mimicking
-Your crib! It took some time, but you actually sleep all night in it.
-Climbing! You still love this and climb on everything: the couch, my legs, the bed, the tub..
-Outdoors. You squeal when I turn the doorknob to go outside.
-Spitting! Mama does not like this one
-The mobile above your crib…this is how mama escapes to the restroom throughout the day.
You could pass on:
– Mommy’s puree combinations. You immediately tell me when I am off the mark LOL. We finally found one you like: oatmeal, carrots, and pears.
-Waiting! You have become quite impatient lately.
-The swing. This was your favorite thing in your room for the past three months and then one day you refused to get in it and never turned back.
-Your walker…it’s a hit or miss but you much rather be held or crawl
Love you for always,
It doesn’t get any cuter than this!!!!

Dying without Passion
It was a great family day with my husband and daughter. During dinner a few guys near our table got into a discussion about motorcycles and I could see my husbands smile breaking under his failed attempt to continue to discuss our daughters “cute new thing”. My husband LOVES cars and motorcycles. Seriously this guy is obsessed. When the average person gets a few extra bucks they buy maybe a new pair of shoes, a nice dinner out, maybe even a splurge trip to Target (oh Target!)…but not my husband when he gets a few extra bucks he buys a car!!!! No lie I have heard about and found cheap cars he has stored at locations other than our house (that’s a whole story I’m sure he hopes I keep to myself :-)). But it’s his passion. I looked at him and said ” Gosh I hope I don’t die without a passion”. We further went on to discuss a few things I had some passion about but nothing like his deep gut wrenching love for exhausts. It first made me sad…then it got me determined. Ultimately we concluded to develop a passion you have to commit time for YOURSELF…to explore….something I am quite terrible at: crafting time for myself. So here goes! Time for self exploration.
As we were leaving a slew of motorcycles passed by, my daughter looked up and squealed…looks like someone is following in her daddy’s footsteps.
Always with love,
But first there was you…
I clearly remember being accepted to college and the first person I wanted to tell was you! When I got engaged you were the first person I called. And as I delivered my miracle baby you were there holding my hand (and my leg lol). But, that’s no surprise because you have always been there; always, even when you were unnoticed, unthanked, and uniformed. You have always had this way of making me feel like I learned something on my own, but really it was you navigating the process. You taught me to fall without defeat; win with a giving spirit, and tame the wild hair….well I think we are still working on that. You taught me to brush my teeth, twice; how to love beyond selfishness; and cook a mean batch of grits….ok lets be honest I NEVER learned that one. Thank you for teaching me to be a lady with a voice; powerful with grace, and to be a child of God with a humble spirit. Thank you for teaching me to not look for the day to day appreciation of parenthood, but the long term honor of being of mother. I aspire to have your beauty and not later in life, but today! You are amazingly graceful.
Now that I have married and realized God’s calling over my life as a mother, I thought what else could my mother teach me?! Well while watching you graduate with your college degree just last week I realized I was wrong about that notion. You are unstoppable!!!! On this day I thank you for allowing me to learn from you, to mimic you, and secretly steal your ideas on so many occasions. You are more than a mother, you are beauty without boundaries; you are forever plus infinity; you are love.
Always with love,
It’s such a beautiful warm day in California today; so we are getting outdoors. Here is Mommy and Baby outfits of the day (OOTD):

Hi Busy Bee,
Another month for the record books! This month was all about transitions. Transitions are about that time period in life where you have outgrown one element of your life and though you can see the next step, you are not there just yet. You are totally transitioning in so many areas this month. You are no longer stationary, but not completely crawling yet. You are not eating solids, but very interested. You are not saying words we understand, but you totally are having full conversations with us. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time. I get to teach you so many things and get to witness the excitement of accomplishment when you succeed at something. Mommy and Daddy spend so much of our evenings staring at you as you explore. Watching you grow into a busy little girl from a calm tiny baby makes me realize just how fast this time with you as a baby is going. You make me appreciate life, time, and God so much more. I realize that I too am transitioning from being a “new mom” to a “mom”. It makes my heart flutter. Here’s to another exciting month coming up. Below are a couple of moments that we were able to capture during this month:
Not fond of banana just yet
Spending the day at the duck pond with one of your godmothers
Wearing tennis shoes for the first time
Mommy’s favorite outfit this month
Look who is standing!!!!
Other things we noticed this month:
-You are still teething, but no munchers just yet!
-You are mobile! You are rolling, scooting, and dragging yourself everywhere. You even have been practicing standing, so much to the point we have had to take you out of your bassinet and start transitioning you to a crib.
-You said “DADA” (March 30th)! It was so exciting!!!! Now you wont stop saying it…which is fine with me and Daddy. We love hearing you talk even if it is just babbling.
-You are not very fond when Mama says “No”.
-Reading! Anytime I sit down with a book you immediately start squealing. We have started going to story time at our local library and you are a big fan.
-Your lovey (pink silky elephant).
You could pass on:
-Solids. We tried food this month and it was not something of interest to you. But we are in no rush…all in your time.
Happy 7 months baby girl!
