Genesis 7 Month Update: Transitions

Hi Busy Bee,

Another month for the record books! This month was all about transitions. Transitions are about that time period in life where you have outgrown one element of your life and though you can see the next step, you are not there just yet. You are totally transitioning in so many areas this month. You are no longer stationary, but not completely crawling yet. You are not eating solids, but very interested. You are not saying words we understand, but you totally are having full conversations with us. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time. I get to teach you so many things and get to witness the excitement of accomplishment when you succeed at something. Mommy and Daddy spend so much of our evenings staring at you as you explore. Watching you grow into a busy little girl from a calm tiny baby makes me realize just how fast this time with you as a baby is going. You make me appreciate life, time, and God so much more. I realize that I too am transitioning from being a “new mom” to a “mom”. It makes my heart flutter. Here’s to another exciting month coming up. Below are a couple of moments that we were able to capture during this month:

Other things we noticed this month:
-You are still teething, but no munchers just yet!
-You are mobile! You are rolling, scooting, and dragging yourself everywhere. You even have been practicing standing, so much to the point we have had to take you out of your bassinet and start transitioning you to a crib.
-You said “DADA” (March 30th)! It was so exciting!!!! Now you wont stop saying it…which is fine with me and Daddy. We love hearing you talk even if it is just babbling.
-You are not very fond when Mama says “No”.

You love:
-Reading! Anytime I sit down with a book you immediately start squealing. We have started going to story time at our local library and you are a big fan.
-Playing peek-a-boo
-Your lovey (pink silky elephant).

You could pass on:
-Solids. We tried food this month and it was not something of interest to you. But we are in no rush…all in your time.

Happy 7 months baby girl!

Order Up!

Now that I have a daughter this post means so much more! An oldie but a goodie.

SingingWithTheVolumeUp

2 love handles, 1 over opinionated personality, and a side of entitlement!  Order Up!  I watched the waitress pick up the ridiculous slab of mess that someone had the nerve of actually requesting.  I watched with hawk-like  eyes to see who she sat the order in front of!  I wondered who could consume all that; it had to be for at least a family of four!  She left the counter and headed down the aisle, trying to balance the other over indulgent orders, a pound of high school insecurities and a heaping of wild and crazy hair.  At least someone ordered something appetizing and healthy as well; a side of confidence.  She rounded the corner and headed my way.  I looked around to see which of my restaurant cohorts had daringly took on this challenge.  She started to slow as she got closer to my table so I became more…

Cranky Pants

I was cranky today!

If I am completely honest I have been cranky for a few days. The biggest indicator was my utter frustration with my daughter. I have been blessed with one of the chilliest babies ever…and I don’t say that just because she is my little bundle of joy.

But these past few days every time she made a noise I found my skin crawling (she has been teething, so I am not a complete monster). If you have read my blogs you know just how much we yearned for our little girl so being annoyed with her really started to make me sad.

When I recognized this, I stopped….gave her a bath, read her a story, and held her until she fell asleep.

Parenting isn’t always about getting it right everyday….it’s about being conscious…..present….aware of the good and the bad.

So tomorrow I will start again…being the best mother I know how on that day.

Always with love,

Collect memories not things

This morning, while getting ready to leave the house my husband and I tripped over tons of stuff: parts to a bassinet that’s not being used, old magazines, and little poles to something that I have yet to figure out belong to what baby toy. In frustration the hubbs said “there is crap everywhere”! He was right! The house was messy but that’s not exactly what was meant by the statement. We had tons and TONS of stuff: keepsakes from vacations, photo albums from our childhood, and let’s not even talk about all the baby stuff (my living room looks like the furniture section of babies r us). This got me thinking….what would life be life decluttered? And not just physically, but emotionally as well. As part of my observation of lent I cut out all social media (excluding updating my blog) and it’s given me such an awareness of how I waste so much time being distracted. I truly believe that clutter (both physical and emotional) is distraction. Distraction from being our true selves….we have such a SHORT time on this planet and something in me is convinced that we are not supposed to be spending this precious time collecting stuff.

Live out loud

Sooooooo this happened today:

20140415-224534.jpg

Yep! That’s me…on a kid’s ride…screaming my head off. First and foremost I clearly realized today that I need to get in shape…I’ve been working on it but I need to put the light to the fire because kid’s rides are NOT made for adults, BUT adults always have to ride with their kids….and squeezing all this fabulousness into that little seat was for the birds. LOL! But the point of this post is not about my juicy thighs…or even my really cute shoes (go ahead and look), it’s about screaming like a kid. When’s the last time you’ve done it? Gosh it’s freeing!!!! Take some time and just “enjoy life” this week (you know do all those cliche things): laugh like a kid, dance like nobody’s watching, etc….

Life is short…or we should be filling it with so many memories to make it feel like it is.

Always with love,

WebMD

Stay away from this site! Genesis has been doing something that I thought was a cute little quirk…shrugging her shoulders. My husband SIMPLY said ” I wonder why she does that”….well what do you think I did!!??? webMD’d that shit of course! After 20 minutes I was convinced my daughter had epilepsy, seizures, was mentally retarded, and needed to be seen by a neurologist ASAP! After an hour of googling I was in TEARS! Literally terrified….I had to get up and just go hug her and take a deep breath. Listen folks who knows if it is something to worry about but one thing I know for sure is the internet won’t help me find the answer.

I am still going to call her doctor tomorrow though…smh…damn you google damn you!!!!

Always with love,
